DTF Pressing Instructions
How to Press Your DTF Transfers
Follow these settings for a durable, professional press every time. These instructions apply to all DTF transfers from Carolina Printing Signs & Lighting.
Recommended Press Settings
- Temperature: 300–315°F
- Time: 10–15 seconds
- Pressure: Medium to firm
- Peel: Cold peel — let the film cool completely before peeling
Step-by-Step
- Pre-press the garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
- Position the transfer print-side down on the garment.
- Press at 300–315°F for 10–15 seconds with medium-firm pressure.
- Let it cool completely, then peel the film slowly at a low angle.
- Second press (recommended): Cover with parchment or a Teflon sheet and press again for 5–10 seconds to lock in the print and improve wash durability.
Wash Care
Wait 24 hours before the first wash. Machine wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron directly on the print, and avoid bleach and fabric softener.
Troubleshooting
Transfer not sticking? Increase pressure and confirm your press temperature with a heat gun — many presses run 10–20°F below their displayed setting. Print cracking after wash? Add the second press step and confirm cold peel. Edges lifting? Increase press time by 2–3 seconds.
